Exeter Lumber Company was established in Exeter in 1873 and for the last nearly thirty years has been owned and operated by the Erdkamp family.

John E's

There are new owners of a familiar establishment in Exeter.

John Graham and Rhonda Walford recently purchased Gator’s Pub, in downtown Exeter, from long-time owner Faye Neeman. Faye and her late husband, “Gator,” had owned the bar since 1981.

They plan to keep many of the “Gator’s” traditions including karaoke on Thanksgiving eve. In fact they hope to expand on the tradition and add monthly karaoke after the first of the year. Of course the NASCAR parties that Gator’s was famous for will be continued in February.

However, several things are changing with the first being the name.  Gator's is now John E's.
The menu will be changing along with the name. Graham, the former chef at the York Country Club, as well as the club’s kitchen manager, has lots of culinary plans. “We plan to add steaks to the evening menu along with spaghetti and fettuccine.”

John E’s will add a lunch buffet starting in November and “the menu will expand as I can get in here and

get situated in the kitchen,” said Graham.

Currently John E’s is serving burgers, wings and chicken strips accompanied by fries and onion chips. However, they always have specials and events going on that the post on their Face book page.

This summer Graham and Walford are looking forward to hosting a bike and car show and shine. The envision opening a beer garden to the north of their building.

Purchasing the bar embodies what the couple has enjoyed about small town living as they have lived in Cordova for the last year, “meeting lots of new people and making friends,” said Graham and Walford.

John E’s plans to celebrate their new business by hosting a grand opening on October 15th featuring a live performance with Shawn Cole. Cole will also be performing at the New Year’s Eve party at John E’s.

Current hours for John E’s are Monday through Saturday from 2:00 p.m. to 1:00 a.m. and Sunday, 2:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.

Horizontal Boring & Tunneling Co. is Exeter's largest employer.  Brent Moore is the President of the company and has officially been with Horizontal Boring & Tunneling Co. since 1982, but prior to that he worked several years in the industry.  Brent credits the employees with the successful growth of the company as the company now works in approximately sixteen different states a year.

   Some of their work ensures that you will have good phone lines, water lines, sewer, drainage and electrical wherever you travel.  That' s because the company does horizontal earth-boring.  They install pipes under roads, interstates, highways to either move products like water or sewer or hold service or cable lines.

   In order to accomplish this mission they use auger boring, pipe ramming, directional drilling, tunneling, micro-tunneling, pipe jacking and pilot tube micro-tunneling methods.

This picture is of a pit constructed for a 930 Lineal Foot crossing of 78" for a sanitary sewer line project. The name of the project was Salt Valley Trunk Sewer; Lincoln, Neb. The project was completed by the microtunneling method. The H Beam and steel-plated pits were constructed by Horizontal Boring & Tunneling Co. employees. At the time of the picture, the crew is setting a 20' section of pipe.

Local farmers can count on Pioneer Seed Rep Jerry Boeck for all their seed products.

As a former custom harvester and hauler Boeck has many ties to the seed industry. He has had the opportunity to observe both the seed companies and their products.      Salon C opened for business in downtown Exeter in October of 2006. The salon boasts a chic look without the chic salon prices.

    Owner Christina Hartmann moved her shop to downtown Exeter in order to have the space to expand her options.

Exeter Chamber of Commerce

The primary mission of the Exeter Chamber of Commerce is to help Exeter become a better place to live and shop.  To that end, the Chamber works hard not only to support and advertise the member businesses but also to support the community.

  The Exeter Chamber of Commerce also directs its efforts towards the most valued resource Exeter has, its children.  From the Easter Egg hunt in the spring, the pool party in the summer and the visit with Santa event each December, each child is encouraged to make memories of how special a place Exeter is to them.

  The Chamber also sponsors a free pancake feed each year to highlight the businesses in town and give the community an opportunity to meet the business owners and enjoy a community supper.
